DESCRIPTION: Length up to 3mm. A small but quite impressive looking Weevil initially identified by the general 'pale' appearance. The elytra form an almost squarish shape and bear a distinctive dark brownish patch behind the pronotum and another near the tip. The pronotum is narrow and tapers towards the apex and the rostrum is long, hanging and slightly curved. BEHAVIOUR: Adults and larvae feed on the underside of leaves. Adulst overwinter in the soil around the host plant. DISTRIBUTION: A local species that can be quite frequent in the southern half of Britain. This fine insect becomes scarcer further north into Scotland. HABITAT: A creature dependant on Figwort as both a larvae and adult. Hedgerows, woodland clearings or anywhere the host plant grows are possible sites to see this Weevil. PERIOD: Best seen from spring to late summer.
